Please read about our grants and scholarships and the application processes before preparing your application.
We welcome enquiries about the suitability of your project. You are encouraged to contact our Director, Lynda Hagen, to informally discuss preliminary ideas before submitting proposals Ph 04-499-1038.
The Law Foundation provides grants for legal research and for projects assisting with public education on legal issues. We also provide some support for development of legal training for the legal profession, law student mooting, provide keynote speakers for legal conferences and public addresses, and fund research-related support for the legal profession.
Your application must be sufficiently legal in nature, be for charitable purposes within New Zealand and benefit a significant number of people. Projects should also be of national, rather than local, benefit.
Deadlines for grant applications:
Conference funding grants: Monday 31 October 2016
Legal Research and General Law grants: Friday 26th August 2016
Scholarships and Awards
We offer six awards of legal scholarships, fellowships and prizes each year, five of which are awarded from applications received. Three are given for legal research, and two are in recognition of outstanding legal scholarship.
