Law Foundation brings leading UK Academic to NZ to discuss miscarriages of justice

A former Chairman of the world’s first independent body established to review miscarriages of justice will deliver public lectures at New Zealand law schools in August.
Professor Graham Zellick will be the New Zealand Law Foundation’s Distinguished Visiting Fellow for 2010. He is the current President of the Tax Valuation Tribunal for England, and was for five years the second Chairman of England’s Criminal Cases Review Commission (covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland).

Auckland women win prestigious Law Foundation Ethel Benjamin Scholarship

The winners of this year’s New Zealand Law Foundation Ethel Benjamin Scholarship were announced at the annual New Zealand Law Foundation Ethel Benjamin Commemorative Address held in Dunedin on 7 May.
The two women lawyers who received the 2010 scholarship are Sarah Nolan and Adrienne Anderson, both from Auckland. They each receive $25,000 to assist their post-graduate study.

Lady Hale to deliver Ethel Benjamin address

Lady Hale of Richmond, justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, will deliver this year’s New Zealand Law Foundation Ethel Benjamin Commemorative Address.
This 14th annual address in the series will be given at the Dunedin Art Gallery at midday on 7 May and will be open to the public as well as to the profession.
