Shaunnagh Dorsett's book "Juridical Encounters - Maori and the Colonial Courts 1840-1852" a joint winner of 2018 Ian Wards Prize

The Law Foundation congratulates Shaunnagh Dorsett, Professor of Law at University of Technology Sydney, on becoming a joint winner of the 2018 Ian Wards Prize.

Shaunnagh’s book “Juridical Encounters: Maori and the Colonial Courts 1840-1852” presents one of the first detailed studies on the interactions of an indigenous people in an Anglo-settler colony with the new British courts.

Funded by the Law Foundation, the book builds on Shaunnagh’s earlier work with the Lost Cases Project funded by NZLF, 2007-2010.

Shaunnagh is past president of the Australian and New Zealand Law and History Society (ANZLHS).
