6.9 REFERENCES TO A WORK REFERRED TO IN ANOTHER WORK

When referring to a work that is referred to in another work, cite the work that has actually been referred to. Do not directly cite a work that has not been sighted.

Eg AV Dicey Introduction to the Study of the Law of the Constitution (10th ed, Macmillan, London, 1965) at 68, n 1 as cited in Philip A Joseph Constitutional and Administrative Law in New Zealand (4th ed, Thomson Reuters, Wellington, 2014) at [6.5.2], n 92.
